Their operations department was forced to manually reconcile banking clearing files (SWIFT MT940 and CAMT.053) against internal merchant gateway ledgers using macros in Excel.

This manual workflow took up to 48 hours to identify settlement discrepancies, delaying merchant payouts, incurring foreign exchange slippage, and exposing the firm to audit penalties during quarterly compliance checks.

Architecture & Implementation

Decodrz engineered a resilient, event-driven settlement portal built with Node.js and TypeScript on the backend, normalized PostgreSQL tables for ledger entries, and a fast, accessible HTML5/Bootstrap administrative console.

Incoming bank batch files are streamed into worker queues that execute multi-pass matching algorithms: primary matching on reference IDs, secondary fuzzy matching on timestamps and amounts, and automated FX rate conversion checks against European Central Bank historical feeds.
